"Actions on behalf of justice and participation in the transformation of the world fully appear to us as a constitutive dimension of the preaching of the Gospel, or, in other words, of the church's mission for the redemption of the human race and its liberation from every oppressive situation." The goals of the group are to:

  • Promote the values of the Kingdom of God and respond to the call to "act justly, to love tenderly and to walk humbly with our God" (Micah 6:6-8)
  • Help create a parish that is active in promoting the church's mission to liberate human beings from every oppressive situation (Synod of Bishops Justice in the World)
  • Educate and raise awareness, in ourselves and others, about issues of poverty and injustice.
  • Encourage a personal response to local and global situations of inequality and oppression.
  • Open up discussion and initiate action about situations that call for a response.
  • Network with groups and organisations whose goals are similar to our own.

     

Current issues for education and justice action are:

  • Climate Change - our responsibility to sustain God's Earth
  • Support for the poor and oppressed in Zimbabwe
  • Promotion of Fair Trade and selling of Fair Trade Products
  • Justice for refugees and asylum seekers
  • Just Work Issues
  • Aboriginal Reconciliation - justice for aboriginal people
