Liturgical Ministries
The parish is blessed to have large numbers of parishioners volunteering for Liturgical Ministries at Sunday Eucharistic celebrations. Welcomers, Ministers of the Word, Extraordinary Ministers of Eucharist, those who take Communion to the Sick and families who present the Gifts, all add to the lay participation in the Eucharistic celebration.
Rosters for these and other ministries are prepared on a six monthly basis and are available at the church.
The Celebration of the Word with Children is part of the Eucharistic celebration on Sundays of the school year. It follows the norms of the Directory for Masses with Children established in 1973. The Liturgy of the Word with children follows the same structure as the Liturgy of the Word with the general assembly at Mass. The children return to the church with the ending of the main assembly's Liturgy of the Word. Many parents and young people assist in this ministry.
The parish currently has 190 young people as Altar Servers. As soon as they have received all the Sacraments of Initiation, children are encouraged to volunteer for the altar servers' roster for both weekday and weekend Masses. These young people continue to act as servers until the end of their secondary schooling.
Music Ministry is an important part of parish life and enhances participation in the Liturgy. Cantors and musicians lead the singing in the congregation. Young people, in particular, are encouraged to be part of this ministry. Organ tuition is available for sacred music.
Several parishioners assist with floral arrangements. A sacristan prepares the church for Liturgy.
