Funerals

Should you have suffered the death of a family member or close relative, our Parish community extends to you our deepest sympathy and the promise of our prayers. While there is usually little time between a death and the ceremony that follows we ask you to be patient as the nature of a funeral liturgy in the Catholic Church may be explained to you.

The central focus of a Catholic funeral is solemn prayer that God will grant eternal life to the deceased. We pray that God will welcome the deceased to heaven and at the same time give special strength to the family in facing such a sad loss.

The church celebration can either be a simple Funeral Ceremony or a Funeral Mass. The person who is appointed to make arrangements should contact the Parish Priest as soon as possible. Only the Parish Priest may enter the place, date, and time of the funeral in the parish calendar. This will mean the co-operation of the Funeral Director.

After these arrangements have been made, the Parish Priest will organize a meeting with the family to explain the ceremony and help organize the liturgy.
